Fighting Food Waste @Jerónimo Martins

Instead of being discarded in the fields, uncalibrated fruit and vegetables are integrated into the value chain.

The Jerónimo Martins Group has been incorporating uncalibrated fruit and vegetables into the supply chain. “Ugly” vegetables are used in the soups made in Portugal and Poland or processed into ready-to-eat or ready-to-cook food solutions. Additionally, the Jerónimo Martins’ Agri-business Company incorporates these fruits and vegetables into cattle feed. Between 2015 and 2020, over 100.000 tonnes of ugly fruit and vegatables were integrated into Jerónimo Martins’ supply chain.
